Trump backs boycott of Harley Davidson in steel tariff dispute
The Wisconsin-based motorcycle manufacturer announced a plan earlier this year to move production of motorcycles for the European Union from the United States to its overseas facilities to avoid the tariffs imposed by the trading bloc in retaliation for Trump’s duties on steel and aluminum imports. In response, Trump has criticized Harley Davidson, calling for higher, targeted taxes and threatening to lure foreign producers to the United States to increase competition. “Many @harleydavidson owners plan to boycott the company if manufacturing moves overseas. Great! Most other companies are coming in our direction, including Harley competitors. A really bad move! U.S. will soon have a level playing field, or better,” Trump said in a Twitter post. Harley Davidson has repeatedly declined to comment on Trump’s remarks over the course of the dispute. The company could not be immediately reached for comment on Sunday.
White nationalists, counter-protesters rally in DC
Far-right protesters and counter-protesters descended on Washington, D.C. on Sunday for the first anniversary of the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Va. Earlier that day, hundreds of people participated in counter-protests across the city as white nationalists prepared for their rally. The white nationalists attending the “Unite the Right 2” rally reportedly left in few numbers, the roughly two dozen demonstrators who attended the rally had reportedly been escorted out of Lafayette Park by local police to the cheers of hundreds of people protesting them. The counter-protests had dwindled significantly as well, but one protester said the anti-fascists are “still here.” Police also had to intervene when antifa members were caught throwing “projectiles” while heading to the rally. As typical in this protests of the two sides, mayhem and smoke bombs were the name of the game. However unlike Portland last weekend, the Police did a solid job and didn’t let things get out of hand. This theme has been playing out west for months now. Lets face it, both sides are nothing but wanna-be jerk-offs who apparently never works, and serve no constructive purpose in our country, just saying. Send you hate mail to I don’t give a crap U.S.A.
670 ballots in a precinct with 276 voters, and other tales from Georgia’s primary
Habersham County’s Mud Creek precinct in northeastern Georgia had 276 registered voters ahead of the state’s primary elections in May. But 670 ballots were cast, according to the Georgia secretary of state’s office, indicating a 243 percent turnout. The discrepancy, included in a number of sworn statements and exhibits filed as part of a federal lawsuit against the state by election security activists, comes amid swelling public concern for the security of Georgia’s voting systems. Georgia is one of four states that uses voting machines statewide that produce no paper record for voters to verify, making them difficult to audit, experts say. And cybersecurity experts have warned that there were security flaws on the state election website leading up to the 2016 contest that permitted the download and manipulation of voter information. The court filings highlight various issues with Georgia’s 16-year-old voting machines, as well as the system that runs them and handles voter registration information.
In one sworn statement, a voter explains that she and her husband, who were registered to vote at the same address, were assigned different polling places and different city council districts. In another, a voting machine froze on Election Day. In several instances, voters showed up at their polling places as listed on the secretary of state’s website, only to be told they were supposed to vote elsewhere. An Atlanta Democrat’s voting machine provided him a ballot including the 5th Congressional District, for which longtime Rep. John Lewis ran unopposed, instead of his 6th Congressional District ballot, which featured a competitive Democratic race. “Alongside federal, local and private sector partners, we continue to fight every day to ensure secure and accurate elections in Georgia that are free from interference. To this day, due to the vigilance, dedication and hard work of those partners, our elections system and voting equipment remain secure,” spokeswoman Candice Broce wrote in an email. So your going to using paper ballets or no? It is a simple question really, I think Georgia needs to get with the times here with their antiquated machines and all. The story goes on with more horror stories on the glitches and machines that voters used all day to find out it never registered any votes whatsoever. I wonder what Maddy has to say about her state screwing up once again and is now in a contest with Florida man?
Gender studies programs to be banned in Hungary
The Orbán government introduced legislation to shut down accredited gender studies programs offered by universities in Hungary. Academics now have 24 hours to respond to the government’s plan. The ban will primarily impact students at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (ELTE)–the only institution in Hungary, other than Central European University, to offer gender studies at the graduate level, and the only one to provide this program in Hungarian. The number of students impacted by the ban is small–only 11 applicants were admitted this year at ELTE and two at CEU. The maximum number of students that ELTE can admit any given year is 18 and those enrolled this coming academic year will be the last to take this program in Hungary. Although the government is not formally citing ideological reasons for its decision to cancel gender studies (the official reason is that this program is not “economically rational”), circles within Fidesz, most notably its Christian Democrat (KDNP) wing, have been calling for this for some time. In 2017, Lőrinc Nacsa, the leader of KDNP’s youth wing, labelled gender studies at ELTE as a wasteful luxury and also as destructive. “We must raise awareness to the fact that these programs are doing nothing to lift up our nation. In fact, they are destroying the values-centered mode of thinking that is still present in the countries of Central Europe,” wrote Mr. Nacsa in his letter to the rector of ELTE. State Secretary Bence Rétvári (KDNP) in the Ministry of Human Capacities questioned whether gender studies even qualifies as a legitimate academic field. Well we all know the answer to that, good job Hungary!
McAuliffe: We should look at impeaching Trump over Putin summit
WARNING! STUPID STORY AHEAD! IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD YOUR MORNING BREW PLEASE COVER YOUR EARS FOR YOUR SAFETY AND SANITY.
Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) ripped into President Trump on Sunday, suggesting he should be impeached over his behavior at a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this summer in Helsinki. Trump should “stop bear-hugging Putin,” anal retention device told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Trump was widely criticized by both Republicans and Democrats (mostly Democrats, the party of slavery) for siding with Putin at a news conference over U.S. intelligence experts on the issue of Russian election meddling. Anal retention device, a former Democratic (the party of slavery) National Committee chairman who held top spots in Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton‘s presidential campaigns, began attacking Trump for his comments hours after he made them, tweeting that the president had “violated his oath to preserve, protect and defend…against all enemies foreign and domestic.” On Sunday, the anal retention device said that impeachment for Trump’s behavior at Helsinki is “something we oughta look at. Imagine this, that President Clinton or President Obama had traveled to Helsinki and done what Trump had done, you would already have impeachment trials,” Anal retention device told Tapper. Okay, let’s see, Obama cow towing to the United Nations, going on his “apology” tour for the “evils” of the White Imperialist Devils known as the United States. Clinton was too busy being unpresidential being a womanizer in chief. We are going to use these two men who lacks any respect for this nation and compare them to Trump? The reason I am doing this story not because it’s funny but because it is pathetic! If the American naysayers put this much effort into fixing our country we would be better off than we are today. Anyway the last remark from this anal retention device was this, Putin “is a foe he fights us every single day. We’re battling him all over the globe.” Maybe in your mind we are, we have bigger concerns with China at the moment than a fairy tale of Russian Collusion. The party of slavery needs to find a new tact because “We The People,” are tired of hearing it.
German police save terrified man from baby squirrel
It is perhaps one of the more unusual calls received by German police. “Help, I am being pursued by a squirrel,” said the terrified man when he telephoned the emergency services in the city of Karlsruhe. And not just any squirrel. When a squad car arrived it turned out to be a baby squirrel. The rescue proved simple when the tiny rodent, exhausted by the pursuit, promptly fell asleep. Officers said the squirrel was probably simply looking for a new home. “It often happens that squirrels which have lost their mothers look for a replacement and then focus their efforts on one person,” Christina Krenz, police spokeswoman said. She added that the animals could be “very persistent, not just running behind someone, but entirely fixated on them, It can be pretty scary. The man didn’t know what to do and so he called the police,” she said. “He was certainly feeling a bit threatened.” And squirrels have been known to attack humans. In July last year, the New York parks department warned visitors to look out for an unusually aggressive squirrel in Prospect Park after five people reported being bitten. The German police officers, however, seemed to take the threat from the tiny terror in their stride. “Squirrel becomes our new mascot, christened Karl-Friedrich,” they said in their police report. “The squirrel has fallen asleep because of fright,” they added. Police took the squirrel into police custody, and then to an animal rescue centre, where they said it was being well looked after.
