It’s been a roller coaster year and we still have a little over a month to go. Thanks to everyone who came to watch The Morning Brew live newscast, but, at least for now, it will have to be shelved once again but not due to sheltering circumstances or computer problems. Let me explain.
Without going into too much detail, financial issues have made it impossible for Merlin and me to continue the show at this time. We simply were not generating enough revenue to keep streaming in the mornings.
This has caused me to seek freelance jobs to fill in the gaps and help out financially with the house finances. After thinking about it and looking back, I can’t do both the writing and the streaming without overworking myself.
The Show
I would get up at 6 in the morning and start looking for the day’s news:
– US current events,
-World current events,
-Gaming news,
-Science and Health, and
-Let’s not forget the specials through Humble Bundle.
On top of this, I was making sure the coffee and chill section had plenty to warm up the audience before we dove into the Government tweets. I also had to make sure the windows I opened in OBS were framed properly and the audio was on point.
By the time the show was done, six hours of the day had transpired.
After the show, I had to edit the segments for both the news channel and the geek channel, make thumbnails and turn the transcript into a blog post. This took me to around 3 in the afternoon, nine hours so far.
If I were to still do the show and pick up freelance work, I would be adding up to 5 or 6 more hours to my day.
This would be a total of 14-15 hours a day. This is too much for one person, and I had tried this once before. I was exhausted and had no time to destress or time for the husband.
This is not good for one’s mental state.
Until it becomes feasible for the show to come back, news videos will be uploaded on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Nov 26 and Nov 29 to accommodate for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Until next time,
Anissa “Maddy” Walker
