Republicans Likely to Lose 8 seats in the House.
The Cook Report, a non-partisan newsletter, has predicted the loss of 8 House seats for the Republicans this election cycle. The report also claims the Democrats will gain 10-15 seats this cycle.
Democrats’ funding raising prowess, dozens of retiring Republicans, and the growing unpopularity of President Trump are three of many factors they are listing for the shift. Cook’s House main House analyst has stated that “the House battlefield has steadily moved towards Democrats all cycle..”
Two Republicans expected to lose seats are Rep. Kenny Marchant (Texas) and Rep. John Carter (Texas). He went on to predict that Reps. Andy Kim (N.J.) and Conor Lamb (PA) are on firmer footing and expected to keep their seats.
Other outlets have the following Representatives and Senators poised to lose their seats:
Alabama: Senator Doug Jones Arizona: Senator Martha McSally
Colorado: Senator Cory Gardner
North Carolina: Senator Thom Tillis, though forecasters are still rating it a toss-up.
6th District: both seats are likely to be Democrat after a map redraw due to gerrymandering.
Michigan 3rd: Rep. Justin Amash because Hillary Scholten is running unopposed.
FBI: Trump Caravan Investigation
On Sunday a video circulated on Twitter of a caravan of Trump supporters on a highway catching up to and surrounding a Biden campaign bus that was carrying campaign staff and U.S. House of Representatives candidate and former Texas Senator Wendy Davis.
The video shows a white car, confirmed to be driven by a Biden staffer, swerving into the lane of a caravan member. It is later report by police that they found the staffer at fault. According to the Campaign, staff on the bus dialed 911 to report what had happened with response from local law enforcement who aided the bus in reaching its destination.
“FBI San Antonio is aware of the incident and investigating,” was a direct quote from Special Agent Michelle Lee.
There was another incident of a Trump Caravan in Bronx Borough blocking traffic which was later explained by two videos, one of the Trump Supporters on the Bridge and another of the police blocking the road to keep them from advancing.
There were similar instances on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey and Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River.
My Two Cents:
I have thought long and hard about this story and the incidents listed within it. I cannot agree with what the Trump supporters did. Is this any better than what the other groups did when they would block traffic to “protest”? I don’t think so. It doesn’t matter who you are voting for this election, if you block traffic for any reason, you are an idiot.
Firearms Back in Walmart Stores
After removing firearms as a precautionary tactic after the shooting of Walter Wallace Jr and the incidents that followed, Walmart is returning its stock of firearms and ammunition to its shelves.
A Walmart spokesperson, Kory Lundberg, was quoted, “After civil unrest earlier this week resulted in damage to several of our stores, consistent with actions actions we took over the summer, we asked stores to remove firearms and ammunition from the sales floor to a secure location in the back of the store in an abundance of caution. As the current incidents have remained geographically isolated, we have made the decision to begin returning these products to the sales floor.”
